The torsion spring is the most common type of spring used in commercial garage doors. The springs are made of steel wire wrapped around a winding rod, called a barrel, which is attached to the header above the door. When the garage door is lowered, it pulls the barrel down until it reaches its limit. At this point, the inner diameter of the barrel expands and locks in place. This action keeps the weight of the door from falling down once it has been opened.

Commercial Garage Door Windows

When it comes to installing a commercial garage door window, there are three options:
A fixed-pane window. This type of window has no moving parts and is permanently installed in the door panel.
A hinged window. This type of window has two sashes that open and close like a regular door window. The hinges are usually attached to the header above with bolts and nuts, so they can be removed when not in use. Hinged windows can also be placed in stationary panels, as long as they have sufficient clearance around them so they can open easily without hitting anything (such as another panel).
An operable window. This type of window includes tracks on its bottom edge that allow it to slide horizontally into or out of its frame when operated by an electric motor (see Figure 1). Operable windows are typically used in high-traffic areas where frequent opening and closing is necessary, such as drive-through bank branches or retail stores
